Early last week the children in E6 and E7 came up with the idea of having a special event at school for their mums, after talking about Mother's Day and how much we loved them. We brainstormed lots of ideas for what we could do and then filtered the list (with only an hour time slot available). Over the last several days we have practiced songs, painted pictures, written stories, made cards, learnt hand massage and talked about feelings and family. We sent home invitations with some special Mother's Day cards last week. Today we put it all together to host a special "Mummy and Me" morning.

The children were brimming with pride and excitement by the time their mummies and special people (some invited aunties, family friends and grandparents along) started arriving ...
It didn't take long before the class was full with standing room only, so we started our concert. We sung three fabulous songs with all the actions: Skinny Marinky I Love You; You Are My Sunshine; Happiness is Something. The crowd cheered and there was even a few happy tears in the audience.
After our concert, the children gave their special visitors a hand massage ... they were so gentle and loving, rubbing in all the lotion and making a fuss of their mums and other guests (by now we'd also been joined by the Principal, Mrs Henderson) ...
After then checking out the children's paintings and writing, we went through to E6 to enjoy a special morning tea of scones, jam and cream. Mrs Mander and Mrs Gwilliam visited too. We all tucked in and had a real feast.
After our very special morning, big hugs and long goodbyes, the children gave their visitors a very special card they made. A touching way to end a very special Mummy and Me morning. If you came along, I hope you had as lovely a time as we all did. Thank you.
